Residents’ Sense of Place on Micro Small Public Spaces on Epidemic Perspective

Like other historical preservation areas, the Fayuansi Community in Beijing’s old city zone faces many problems such as high population density and a shortage of public spaces. As community that has lasted for more than thousand years, its block pattern embodies early Beijing city. Micro Small Public Spaces (MSPS) are great significance to physical mental health residents, especially during COVID-19 epidemic. This research investigates habit shifts residents’ usage these spaces introduces theory “Sense Place”, which is concept refers manner individuals relate or feel about place they live, conducts questionnaire survey residents community. After analyzing needs according survey, this study gives suggestions on management MSPSs, increasing supply both facilities, strengthening management, paying attention senior needs, providing cultural events. All measures would strengthen sense develop popular support policy.
